Where is the caribbean M&A Data?

This isn’t a long post, just a short rant. It’s practically impossible to locate M&A data for the Caribbean as a region. Everywhere is happy to provide “Latin America and the Caribbean” as a region - but nothing for just the Caribbean.

Now I get it - deals are smaller, and mostly not publicized, but I think it actually does us a disservice because:

  • If a deal professional, institutional capital or strategic acquirer starts to search on one of the data platforms for global activity, the Caribbean literally doesn’t register as even being active.

  • When the aforementioned searcher then begins to narrow down their search criteria - our region is invariably excluded due to lack of activity.

  • I worry that our conservatism and modesty is actually part of a negative feedback loop, where - we don’t talk about deals happening here, so no one looks to do a deal here, which leads to less deals happening etc...

Indeed, besides attracting additional interest from outside of the region, in my view, it would also help regional entrepreneurs and families with succession issues to understand that they have strategic options available. I’ll end things here just by posting the below chart from White & Case’s M&A Explorer.

If any readers know of reliable sources of Caribbean M&A Data, please send them my way. Thanks, that’s all for now!
